Paolo Cimmino, percussion instruments professor at the Music Conservatory of Salerno, has been delving into the study of Neapolitan folk music tradition for several years. This interest was sparked by encounters with musicians such as Nando Citarella (Neapolitan traditional music), Carlo Rizzo (tamburello), and Antonio Matrone (tammorra). More recently, he has explored the musicality and rhythm of the Karnatic Indian tradition, influenced by the knowledge and encounters with Maestro T.R. Sunderasan and Glen Velez. Cimmino collaborates with numerous artists, including the Nuova Compaglia di Canto Popolare.
