The 12th edition of the Marranzano World Fest will be dedicated to exploring the boundary between words and music, drawing an ideal line between the traditional repertoires of “cuntu” and various forms of narrative singing, to the more recent youth trends related to the world of rap.
One of the highlights of this edition is the European project TREMOLO, co-financed by the Creative Europe Program, which connects the MWF with two other festivals in Hungary and Serbia. The project focuses on young artists and the ability of the intangible heritage of peripheral areas to influence the construction of a new common European identity, where respect and safeguarding of cultural diversity represent an added value.
The festival will be introduced by a “prelude” of initiatives taking place from June 25 to 27 in the historic center of Catania. The opening day on July 1 will unfold between Castello Ursino, Piazza dei Libri, and Palazzo Biscari. The central three evenings of the festival, from July 2 to 4, will come to life at the Turi Ferro Amphitheater in Gravina di Catania, an unprecedented venue for us. It will provide a safe environment to enjoy concerts and a range of workshops, a musical instrument marketplace, and tastings of local foods and beverages.
