Vladiswar Nadishana is a multi-instrumentalist hailing from the Kuzhebar region in South Siberia. He founded his “department of sound microsurgery,” a laboratory for creative studies on the sounds of traditional instruments and the relationship between sound and the human body. Since 2005, he has been living in Berlin.
As a composer, music producer, video artist, and instrument builder and inventor, Nadishana has developed a unique approach with many instruments from the South Siberian tradition and other cultures. These include Jew’s harps and harmonic flutes like the kalyuka and fujara. Over the years, he has modified traditional playing techniques for these instruments, pushing their limits through innovative construction and, in some cases, radically reinventing their sounds.
