Giorgio Maltese is a multi-instrumentalist from Catania engaged for many years in the research and enhancement of oral music in Sicily. He plays numerous instruments such as marranzano, tamburello, zampogna, mandolin and violin. He learned from elderly musicians and shepherds to build and play different types of firscaletti and double Sicilian flutes, and it is thanks to his field research that we will have the honor of having among the guests of the festival several traditional players. He has collaborated with many artists of various musical genres and participated in numerous festivals, also promoting the Sicilian musical heritage internationally through exhibitions, workshops and training courses.
