Born in Catania into a family of artists and musicians, Puccio Castrogiovanni started studying the piano and playing the marranzano and guitar at a young age in various folk groups in Catania and Acireale. Passionate about lutherie, he owns a diverse collection of traditional folk instruments. He is one of the founders of the musical group I Lautari, with whom he has been actively performing and recording for over twenty years, staying within the tradition and its renewal. The project involves the research and reworking of Sicilian songs, as well as the composition of new songs respecting traditional motifs and forms. In recent years, he has initiated a collaboration with the Zappalà Danza Company, exploring a new repertoire specifically created for contemporary dance on the marranzano.
